The cacao flower has five petals. The Somos Cacao seal comes from that flower, and that number, five, is no coincidence: it is the same one that appears in one of the best-known sequences in mathematics.
Something as small, simple and beautiful as the cacao flower makes us aware of the perfection of nature, which in discreet lines shows us a fascinating design: a pattern that matches one of the most captivating mathematical concepts, the Fibonacci sequence.

The mathematical beauty behind the flower
In the 13th century, Leonardo of Pisa (Fibonacci) described a numerical sequence starting with 0 and 1, in which each number is the sum of the two before it (1, 1, 2, 3, 5…). Dividing two consecutive elements of this series gives a result that approaches the golden ratio or golden number: 1.6180339.
This ratio appears in countless natural and artistic forms: in the arrangement of petals, in galaxies, in snail shells… and also, of course, in the cacao flower.
The perfect pentagon and the cacao flower
The cacao flower has pentamerous symmetry: five petals radiating from the center, like a starfish. Its basic geometric structure is the pentagon, a figure associated with the golden ratio and a symbol of harmony since Pythagorean times.
The pentacle, or five-pointed Pythagorean star, was a symbol of knowledge for the ancient Greeks. In the words of the Pythagorean school: “to investigate the principle of order manifested in the universe in order to try to resemble it”.
Somos Cacao: from natural origin to knowledge
At Somos Cacao we believe that the union of nature and knowledge is the foundation of our identity. That is why our image is inspired by the five-petaled cacao flower, an ancestral symbol of harmony, beauty and science.

This design not only represents the essence of cacao, but also connects with our mission: to bring the world a chocolate that respects its origin, its history and its science.
