We were born in Cúcuta between 2018 and 2019.
Somos Cacao was born in Cúcuta between 2018 and 2019 with a simple idea: to sell cacao from Norte de Santander. Getting to know the farms and the families, the project grew on its own: first chocolate, then bonbons, then our own workshop. Without quite planning it, we became chocolate makers.
From the first tree to the first bar.

The tree
Erica came across a cacao tree and never let it go. Between being a mother, an engineer and a construction entrepreneur, she researched in every spare moment.

El Porvenir
Her site foreman was going to sell a farm he had inherited. Erica went with him, three hours by road and twenty minutes on foot, and proposed they become partners. Today it is more than 10 hectares.

The school
Venezuela, with five recognized origins, was the classroom. That is where the characterization and DNA analysis of El Porvenir's cacao came from.

Somos Cacao
Miguel and Juan Diego joined with what they know: sales, finance and operations. From the bean to chocolate, and from chocolate to the shop.

More than 8,000 fanegas of cacao a year left for Europe through the port of Maracaibo. Today the region grows more than 12,000 hectares, in the hands of 3,500 families across 24 municipalities.
“In cacao I have found the chance to show my country that the peace process has been a reality for me.”
